What "Know Your Customer" means

Know Your Customer (KYC) is the standard process by which a financial service confirms that a client is a real, identifiable person, and that the information provided at registration is accurate.

In practice, KYC at Timber Rendholt means we collect and confirm a small set of basic facts about you: your full legal name, your date of birth, your country of residence, your contact details and the payment method you intend to use. We compare the details you typed into the sign-up form with the details shown on the documents you upload.

What we do not do

We will never request your internet banking credentials, complete card PIN, or device access permissions. Staff members are instructed never to ask for these details. Any request for such information originates from a third party and should be reported via our abuse reporting mechanism.

Definition

What "anti-money laundering" means

Anti-money laundering (AML) is the set of internal controls a financial service uses to prevent its platform from being used to move the proceeds of crime, to finance illegal activity, or to disguise the true origin of funds.

AML controls are broader than a one-off identity check. They cover risk classification of new accounts, sanctions and politically-exposed-person screening, limits on unusual funding patterns, record keeping, internal escalation of suspicious activity and, where the applicable law requires it, reporting to the competent authority.

Where AML rules and a client instruction conflict, the AML rules take priority. That can mean a delayed transaction, a request for additional documents, or a restricted account until the matter is resolved.

Rationale

Why verification is required

  1. 01

    Legal obligation

Entities that manage or facilitate the movement of customer assets must perform client identification prior to service delivery. This requirement is mandatory and extends to all accounts universally.

  2. 02

    Protecting your money

Verification ties an account to one identifiable owner. It makes account takeover far harder, and it means withdrawals can only be sent back to a payment method proven to belong to you.

  3. 03

    Keeping the platform clean

Screening keeps sanctioned parties and anonymous shell activity off the platform, which protects every other client using it.

  4. 04

    Faster payouts later

An account verified up front does not have to stop for checks at withdrawal time, which is when delays are least welcome.

Documents

Which documents are accepted

We ask for up to three categories of document. Files should be colour images or PDFs, fully in frame, unedited, with all four corners and all text legible.

1. Identity document

A government-issued document that shows your photograph, full name, date of birth, document number and expiry date. Commonly accepted types are a passport, a national identity card, or a driving licence where it is issued as a photographic identity document. The document must be valid and not expired.

2. Proof of address

A current document, typically distributed in recent months, containing your full name and current residence address matching your account registration. Common examples include a utility bill, financial institution statement, government tax correspondence, a municipal communication, or an official notification from a government body. Postal delivery addresses and third-party addresses do not fulfill this requirement.

3. Proof of payment method

Verification that the payment method is your property. For credit/debit cards, an image displaying your name, the initial six and terminal four digits alongside the validity period, with middle digits and CVV obscured is customary.

For bank transfers, a bank document or written confirmation bearing your name with the account reference number suffices. For digital payment platforms, a profile screenshot displaying your name and the corresponding account reference.

Formats and file size

Submission caps, document formats accepted and supplementary documentation requests are available within your account's verification section. Non-account language documents may necessitate certified translation; our compliance division will notify you accordingly.

Process

The verification steps

  1. 01

    Register

Create the account with your real legal name, date of birth, country of residence, email and phone number. Details that do not match your documents are the most common cause of delay.

  2. 02

    Confirm contact details

Authenticate your email and, if applicable, your mobile number. This establishes ownership of your communication methods.

  3. 03

    Upload your identity document

Upload the pages that carry your photograph and personal data. Some checks include a short liveness or selfie step to confirm the document belongs to the person holding it.

  4. 04

    Upload proof of address

Attach a current eligible document under your name at the registered address.

  5. 05

    Confirm the payment method

Present documentation confirming the payment source and withdrawal method you intend to utilize.

  6. 06

    Screening and review

The compliance division examines your submission, conducts necessary screening for regulatory compliance and financial risk, then either grants approval or requests amendments.

  7. 07

    Confirmation

You will be informed when your account status is updated. The active status displays consistently in your account verification area.

Timing

How long a check takes

Complete properly submitted materials typically receive assessment in several hours through two working days. Materials requiring additional examination, interpretation services or further documentation may require extended processing.

Review times depend on volume, on the quality of the uploads and on whether any additional screening is triggered. The processing window that applies to your account, together with the current status of each document, is shown in your account area - that published figure is the one to rely on, not any figure quoted elsewhere.

  • Legible, thorough, unaltered document submissions receive expedited assessment.
  • Requests submitted outside business hours are queued for the next working day.
  • Enhanced review, where required, adds time and is communicated to you.
Troubleshooting

Why a check can be rejected

Denials are typically rooted in documentation deficiencies rather than personal disqualification. Resubmission frequently results in approval upon subsequent review.

Ongoing controls

Ongoing transaction monitoring

Verification constitutes an ongoing process. Continuous oversight of accounts and financial activities persists throughout the duration of our commercial relationship.

What is monitored

Funding and withdrawal patterns, changes of payment instrument, changes of country or contact details, activity that does not match the profile you gave at sign-up, and any activity flagged by our screening tools.

What can happen as a result

  • A request for refreshed documents or an explanation of the source of funds.
  • Freeze applied to an individual transaction during examination.
  • Adjustment of the limits published in your account.
  • Restriction or closure of the account where the law requires it.

Records

Personal identification details and payment history are preserved for the interval mandated by governing rules following relationship termination, maintained pursuant to our Privacy Policy. Certain legal frameworks restrict disclosure to customers regarding filed notifications.

Your side

Your obligations

  • Give accurate, current and complete information, and keep it up to date.
  • Use only your own funds and your own payment instruments - never someone else's.
  • Keep one account only, and keep your credentials private.
  • Respond to document requests within the timeframe stated in the request.
  • Tell us promptly if you change country of residence, legal name or payment method.
  • Notify us immediately of any suspected unauthorized use of your account.

Submission of fraudulent or modified documentation represents a breach of policy. This results in immediate account termination and notification to regulatory bodies where mandated.

Support

Where to ask questions

If anything on this page is unclear, or you want to know the exact status of your own verification, ask us before uploading again.

Who reviews my documents?

A trained compliance reviewer. Files are stored on restricted systems, and access is limited to staff who need it for the check.

Can I start before I am verified?

You can register and explore the account, but funding, trading and withdrawals depend on the verification status published in your account.

Do I have to verify again later?

It is possible. Document validity periods conclude, locations change and routine credential updates are standard AML procedure. We shall reach out when an update is required.

How do I contact the compliance team?

Use the contact route on our contact page and mention "KYC" or "verification" in your message, together with the email address on your account. Please do not send document images by unsecured channels - upload them in the account area instead.

Licenses & regulatory information

Before you upload

Get verified once, cleanly

Ninety per cent of delays come from three things: a blurred photo, an out-of-date address document, and a payment method in someone else's name. Fix those and most checks pass first time.

Need help with a document?

Our support team can tell you exactly which file was rejected and why.

  • Visit your account verification area initially.
  • Reach out to our support team using the email address associated with your account.
